Hanging out with the Butlers - weekend 1

The Butler family came over to HI for their family vacation and we were lucky to join in on some of their fun!
 Fishing at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garadens
I think everyone caught at least one fish.  Lucy was the record breaker with 11 fish caught and Mason had the record for the biggest fish!  Geo and Rhett passed on their baiting knowledge to the cubscouts fishing next to us and they started catching fish as well.  This was especially notable because one of the scouts hadn't caught anything in three straight fishing trips.

 Hike to Makapu'u Lighthouse
We saw a few whale splashes and spouts along the way.  Notice Mason and Austin in these pictures.  They were the best of buddies.  I think they held hands the entire way up and back.   Pretty cute!
And of course, we needed shave ice after all that hard work!

There were flash flood warnings Sunday afternoon, so the kids spent most of the time after Sunday dinner playing inside.  The adults were chatting in the kitchen and we started hearing thud after thud... and more and more giggling.  And this is what we saw when we went to investigate.

The cause?  Nothing more than the boys dropping stuffed animals and pillows off the balcony.  Everyone thought it was the best game ever.  Then they decided to do individual bombing.

Here's Elise's turn:

Even Geo and Cole took a hit.  I was positive this game was going to end in tears, but thankfully, no one was hurt.  The only tears were from wimpy Austin when he was worried someone was going to make him be bombed too.
By the end of the night, half the kids had to run through the rain and were drenched in about 5 seconds.

More fun to come...

What adorable kids--and I'm only related to half of them! Fishing looks fantastic! I loved the picture of Cole relaxing on his Dad's back. It always intrigues me that kids love to get soaked in the rain. Looks like everyone had a great time!
