2007 for the Tripp’s of San Antonio seemed to fly by. We enjoyed visits from the whole Tripp immediate family in April for a tour of the attractions near San Antonio. We also had Lacey and Chris (and Chris’ friend Natalie) visit in August and had Liz in October and Cindy in November. We always love visitors and hope San Antonio as well as our warm hospitality are reasons for others to come see us.
Lucy turned two and is definitely asserting her independence as often as she can remember to do so. She takes opportunity to refuse to sit up for dinner or refuse to eat her carrots even though she really likes them alright. Potty training has been mostly successful and been only occasionally frustrating. She’s definitely a girl and enjoys dressing up, shopping for clothes with her mother, taking care of her baby dolls and painting with watercolors. She likes to watch Sesame Street videos but gets afraid of The Count and has watched Mary Poppins at least thirty times though not always all the way through. We call her the little commentator because she gives a running dialogue about whatever is happening at the moment.
Kimberli always keeps herself occupied with several projects and scheduled stimulation for Lucy. This year she made a quilt from pieces of Grandma Barbara’s collection of material. She also sewed a Halloween cowgirl costume for Lucy, painted the master bedroom and bathroom, and continuously adds to the flower garden. Kimberli also started a music class for kids from age 0-4 and their mothers. It involves singing and marching and general fun and meets on Mondays. She arranged with the nearby Northwest Hills Christian Church for a place to meet and that has made it quite successful and usually has 15-20 families come each time.
George’s intern year finished up and seemed mostly downhill after the first six months (2006) accomplished most of the breaking of his spirit (mostly joking). Second year has been much better and perhaps especially because he has had a lot of outpatient rotations to start things off. So far he has only worked one weekend overnight and has had a majority of two day weekends totally off which was a rare occasion during intern year. George is enjoying pediatrics and feels at home in the field.
We added a wooden deck to the backyard and have enjoyed the extra space for barbecuing and dinners in the shade of the house in the evenings. We’re hoping to grow our family and have recently completed all the paperwork to be eligible for adoption and hope to have our profiles up on the internet sometime in January of 2008. If any of you know of any birth parents who are planning to place a child for adoption we would be delighted for your prayerful recommendation of our family.
