Independence day is always known
By colors tried and true.
This poem we send in tribute to
The old RED, WHITE, and BLUE.
For us the RED is blood shot eyes,
Worn out from nights spent up
Tending to a little babe
Waking twice a night to sup.
The WHITE has come to symbolize
The diapers and the towels
Hourly soiled by our child
Each time she moves her bowels.
We don’t complain. We’re overjoyed
To labor at this task.
And once Elise sleeps through the night,
We don’t intend to bask
In blissful peace and sleep filled nights
Because surprise, surprise.
It seems the Lord has other plans
We no longer can disguise.
The BLUE this year is one that’s of
A slightly different hue.
Its baby blue – and scheduled to
Arrive December 2.
And so our fam, so recently
Grown from three to four
Will grow again - this time to five!
And so we are not sure
Our sanity will survive the growth
But we do want to say:
“We’ve overflowed with happiness!”

CONGRATS you guys! Wow, 6 months apart - twins pretty much! If anyone can do it you can. If I remember correctly, you are like a little Energizer bunny. What great news! And how crazy that this seems to happen so often to couples who adopt.
