Lucy's Kindergarten graduation was held Friday, May 27. We got home from the hospital that afternoon, but this was an event that had been talked about in our home since the Joseph cantata, so it was something I couldn't miss.
The evening started with the operetta "Honey Pirates". Lucy worked hard memorizing her lines. Most of that was done in her bed. She'd read the script and come down in the morning telling me what she had learned. Sure made it easy on me! There were songs and dances too. I'm always impressed with the things Mrs. Gundermann can get these kids to do!
Lucy had eight speaking parts. This one is my favorite:
"Yes, even though big brown bears are big and gruff
With sharp claws and fur that's rough

Then it was a quick change into graduation caps and gowns while a slide show kept the guests entertained.
Mrs. Gundermann read something about each Kindergarten graduate. It was cute because each child just beamed as she talked about them. Here's what she said about Lucy:
"Here are 10 facts about Lucy:
1. She moved to Hawaii right before the school year started and lives right next door - she has the distinction of getting to walk to and from school all by herself.
2. She brought her grandparents - both sets- for Show and Tell. And then they told a lot about their home on the mainland and brought salt water taffy from Salt Lake City, Utah.
3. Lucy loved learning all the words to "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Her dad had been in the musical as Issachar so that made it extra special to her. She's a great singer.
4. She's a serious student, is a discussion leader with great answers and insights, and a very conscientious worker.
5. She always has fancy hairdos and lots of hair accessories.
6. Lucy knows many Bible Stories.
7. When Lucy invited me for dinner, she helped make the delicious meal.
8. Lucy invited all the girls for a Valentine's Day tea and it was the talk among the girls for days.
9. She's a wonderful big sister to her younger brother and sister, and a new baby brother came home from the hospital this afternoon. What a happy day.
10. Everybody in the class likes Lucy as a friend - so do her teachers.

One thing that both George and I thought about is how quickly the real graduations will come. High school and college will be here faster than we realize. It makes me sad, but also a good reminder to enjoy each day with our little children. They grow up quick!

The Tuesday after graduation, they had a celebration party at the beach. I sat out on this one, but George and grandma took the two little ones to join in the fun!
I love how Mrs. Gundermann is right in the water with the kids!

Congratulations on your kindergarten graduation Lucy! Those leis are beautiful and that looks like quite the graduation! Caps, gown, and all!
