We used our City Pass to spend a day at the zoo on Thursday afternoon. Weather was absolutely gorgeous!
On Friday afternoon, we headed up to Park City, again to use our passes. Sadly, everyone else in Utah had the same idea. Ugh. Really busy. We split up - the girls went with dad to do the high ropes course. And the boys, Clara, and I headed to the beginner ropes course and zipline. Austin was super excited about the zipline...not so much about the ropes course. So he did that instead. When he got back, we were still waiting in line. There was one group ahead of us from the get-go. The final obstacle in the ropes course is a beginners zipline across the whole thing. They unhook you at the end and you're done. But somehow they hooked a man to the final zipline with the wrong hook??? So he was stuck there. About 6 ft from the jumping pedestal. They called in special rescue team and we waited an hour for them to rescue him. Everyone had their own ideas about what to do. Honestly, it was crazy. George and the girls got back. The lady in charge finally let us get out of line and ride the bigger zipline since George was back to watch Clara & Erik. It was way fun. (That made twice for Austin. He was thrilled.) FINALLY, they let us on the ropes course. Erik was so excited. And they let Austin go too since we'd waited so long. Sadly, we were right in back of a dear mother with a son who looked about 5. He was terrified to do anything. So there was a big pile up with about 10 people behind. They staff would yell that no more than 3 people could be on the stands. But Erik was terrified to stay on the rope obstacle, so we pushed ahead to the tower things. Poor Erik cried and cried through a couple of the first ones and I felt really bad. Pretty scary for a kid. We had to cross these cheese boards and his little legs just couldn't quite make the stretch without letting go of his other one. But its pretty hard to get off so we pushed on and we figured out a few tricks to make it a whole lot easier. Cole and Austin did pretty well, which was kind of a shock to me. So... we get to the end. And a little boy around 6 ish was at the zipline and wouldn't jump. His dad was down there motioning for his mother to push him. But she wouldn't. So we waited. And waited. Half and hour later, the staff lady backs 20 of us through one whole section so this little guy could get off on the stairs part. And then it is our little friend turn who had struggled the whole time. And Erik was dancing around like crazy the whole time. I kept telling him we were almost done, but that kid was the same as the other. Wouldn't jump and really scared. I was 100% positive Erik was going to wet his pants. This whole experience was longer than any of us bargained for. So, I blocked him the best I could and told him to squirt off the tower (we were about 20 feet in the air). The staff lady was pretty preoccupied with the little kid so I though we'd go unnoticed, but no. Austin yells out to the 20 kids behind, "Look! Erik is peeing off the tower". And there is Erik leaning way back, making an arc with a big 'ol grin. Well, the next kid wouldn't jump either so we all back up again to let him get to the ladder. {P.S. I was a total chicken as a child and still not that brave as an adult, so I had some sympathy for these little guys.} I am dying inside because Erik is next and I wanted him to see someone successfully jump. We practiced a few times in line but honestly, I didn't know what he'd do. Well, he got right up there and jumped off... no biggie. And loved it. {Whew!} The workers all gave him hi-fives at the end and he was thrilled with himself.  |

After all that waiting, we were starving. And decided Coldstone ice cream would make the perfect dinner. Everyone got their own flavor and thought it was awesome.
Lots of fun amidst all the organizing and selling stuff, but even a staycation wore us out!
