One of those holidays that stretched over a few days... :)
Saturday night... Hannah and Taylor's wedding. Oh. my. gorgeous.

We headed out from there straight to the Bee's game. Great seats (Thanks to Carli!) The boys spent their "extra job" money on lots of cotton candy and were thrilled out it. It was an extra inning walk-off home run for a Bee's win - really fun! And we always love the fireworks after.
Sunday we decided to do a special sharing time/singing time for primary at church. I was in charge of this one. A little over the top for an every week thing, but fun to do occasionally. We spread quilts out for each class. I borrowed these fake fires from a friend (these were SO cute!) and we "crossed" the pioneer trail on a map. The 11 year old kids told stories of their ancestors and we sang pioneer songs. And threw out salt water taffy. It really turned out nice and I was so pleased with the whole thing. Our pioneer speakers did an especially great job for senior primary and the kids really listened (cuz I asked them questions after each story and threw out taffy to responders - bribery works wonders sometimes).

On the actual 24th, the girls and I joined up with my mom and Kristy and her granddaughters at Little America breakfast and watching part of the parade in downtown Salt Lake City.

We played on the slip-n-slide and then went to dinner at the Prairie Schooner in Ogden - great place to celebrate Pioneer Day! The kids loved those covered wagons (but I'm so happy they didn't figure out the dimmers til the very end).

And last...our primary activity was Thursday. We did different stations and rotated classes through each one. It was honestly kind of crazy, but what do you expect with 80+ kids in attendance?!? They made button spinners, wrote notes to some sick kids, did a cupcake walk, gunny sack races, made butter (and ate rolls) etc. etc. etc.
My station was crossing of the Sweetwater. I told the story of the rescue of the handcart pioneers and the boys who hauled them across. (pretty touching story) and then we had a contest to see who could stay in the ice water the longest. For some it was only a couple seconds. But some I had to make get out at 4+ minutes (when we switched rotations)!

Lucy and I started off Thanksgiving with the Thanksgiving Point Pilgrim 5k. Really quite funny with how out of shape I am. But I loved that the medals were pumpkin pies! hahaha!
Thanksgiving was hosted by Dave & Maria at Maria's mother's home. The kids LOVED swimming in the pool and playing on the sports court. I brought pies - favorite is Apple Cranberry from a Bountiful Kitchen. I now do this kind every year and then try a new kind as well. Family is such a blessing and these events always pull at my heart missing Grandma Barbara. She always loved the family get-to-gethers and put so much work into the yumminess of the food and the activities.
